Popularity of OLED smartphones with in-display fingerprint scanners continues to grow in 2019

I don't have a Face ID device, so my perception is probably biased, but when it comes to something like Apple Pay, it appears to be inferior. For unlocking though, Face ID seems to be well ahead but if Touch ID iPhones had the ability to wake by tapping the screen, I don't think there would be much in it.

I'm not surprised fingerprint authentication is still popular. When introduced, it was a million times better than entering a code and given that facial recognition comes at a premium (the iPhone XR has other compromises) and manufacturers of Android phones haven't been able to match the security of Apple's Face ID it's not really a surprise that their popularity has endured.
