How green is an electric car, really? by Paul Horrell

A question I've pondered myself and it turns out it's a bit of a myth.

As a happy bonus, because electricity supply is moving rapidly towards renewables, an EV bought today will be responsible for less and less CO2/km as it gets older.

Self-charging or plug-in hybrids should be the norm, not the exception. Any energy we reclaim or gain by not having to burn while on the move is a win win.

The ICTT says for a car in the UK, the lifetime CO2 emissions for an EV, including the global mining and manufacturing, and the electricity to run it, are half what they are from a conventional car.

By going from fossil fuel to electric, you half the emissions that the car is responsible for. It's a no brainer.
