A critical analysis of scroll bars throughout history

My first interactions with a Mac at school was around OS 8 or 9 with both arrows at the bottom of the scroll bar which always felt odd. While a permanent scrollbar is useful for context, I much prefer macOS's version that only appears when you are looking to scroll. As a website developer, I hate it when the page jumps because scrollbars come and go, it's a poor experience.
