2019 Nike Free 5.0 running shoes

On a scale of 0 (barefoot) to 10 (regular running shoe), these new Nike Free shoes sit right in the middle. While they can look odd, they're comfortable and as the numbers get lower, much lighter.

  • Stretch upper is designed to fit like a second skin.
  • Low foam density lets your foot feel connected to the ground.
  • Heel-to-toe grooves on the outsole and side of the midsole flex to give optimal flexibility with every step.
  • Asymmetrical lacing system is placed on the side to relieve pressure on your instep.
  • The absence of a heel counter gives freedom to your heel area while providing lockdown.

It's been a long time since I've owned a pair of Nike Free shoes and these look quite futuristic. Currently listed as a 'Members exclusive'.

While I like the white version you can see above, this darker version buried below the rest of the content looks even better:

Arrested Development season 5, part 2 review

The full title of this piece is in fact "Arrested Development season 5, part 2 review: The show must not go on". There are many spoilers in his review and he goes on to say:

Everyone knows Arrested Development ended 13 years ago.

Ouch. Arrested Development is one of my favourite pieces of TV, easily in my top 3 but there's little to disagree on in this review.

Seasons 1 to 3 hit it out the park. Multiple viewings are essential. Season 4, I think, also requires multiple viewings. Second time around it worked far more than I thought it did although it never hit the same highs.

Season 5 is OK, but no more. Franch covers it pretty well and the quote above is unfortunately true. I'll always give it unlimited time and watch anymore they make, but Netflix and/or Hurwitz haven't quite managed to keep the formula working.

Petition to revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU

I've somehow talked myself out of writing much about Brexit here on 1 Thing A Week and across social media as it often feels futile given the incompetence of those in power but depending on the outcome in the next week or two that could change.

The whole idea behind Brexit is not only impossible, but drive by those who will not lose and yet those that will be impacted are either being lead to their own demise or willing to just see everyone crash and burn.

In a 'fun' turn of events and something that reminded my of a Carlsberg advert, the UK's petitions website has been down most of this morning. When it was up, I saw this particular petition had gained over 600,000 signatures, 400,000 of those over night.

The website is back up and the number of signatures has surpassed 800,000 and will surely hit a million.

Leave or remain, noone should be happy with the current trajectory and potential outcomes on offer. I voted remain, but it's clear that leave voters were lied to.

Update

3million signatures

The petition has now flown past 3 million signatures. It's now overdue a debate in Parliament but there are no guarantees this changes the course of anything.

Update

The petition now has a record number of signatures, with more than 4,275,000 right now.

Update

5,252,697 signatures and rising...

Update

I went to check the running total last night and saw that the UK government had responded to the petition. My take is simple:

Revoking Article 50 would break the promises made by Government to the British people

Lying to the British people before they voted is perfectly OK but now that the facts are laid out bare and for all to see, we should press ahead and not give anyone the opportunity to reconsider. Yeah, OK then... Incompetence in government, in waiting and in opposition.

Sanders: U.S. must follow New Zealand's lead and ban assault weapons

America doesn't seem to be in a position to want to follow anyone at the moment, and certainly no New Zealand when it comes to gun control but this is what every sane person should want to hear from their political representatives and law makers.

Snap to debut new slate of original shows

I really like Snapchat and they continue to evolve despite Facebook ripping off their features for their three main endpoints. I use it almost daily to follow what my family are up to and every now and then for content too.
