Why are the BBC and ITV creating BritBox?
You can register for updates on the BritBox website and I didn't know that the service was already available in the US & Canada with a landing page that rips of off Netflix' own that they may as well have put their logos in white capitals inside a red box!
The BBC's own tech correspondent, Rory Cellan-Jones quiped that the competition regulator blocked 'Project Kangaroo' 10 years ago when the BBC and ITV attempted to launch a joint streaming service.
BBC's iPlayer is great and the ITV Player isn't bad, just ad supported which and they offer a premium service that removes ads.
It is an imperative for ... ITV, that the broadcaster develops a digital offering that reduces reliance on advertising and gathers data on the viewing habits of consumers. ITV Player has done a bit of this. BritBox will supercharge it.
Who will this be aimed at? What content will it have that their existing services cannot offer?

Winners of the 'Shot on iPhone' challenge
There are 10 photos overall, here's the breakdown by age of device:
- 6 x iPhone XS / XS Max (< 1 year old)
- 1 x iPhone X (1 year old)
- 1 x iPhone 8 Plus (1 year old)
- 2 x iPhone 7 (2 years old)
I rolled the XS and XS Max together as their camera systems are identical. I find it interesting that the two year old single camera iPhone 7 has as many as winning entries as the newer, dual camera, phones that replaced it and there are none that feature Portrait Mode. Every photo is great but my favourites were these two:

The great thing about smartphone photography is that it's accessible to everyone. It would be pretty easy to fool anyone into thinking they were taken with a DSLR camera.

Tucker Carlson calls one of his guests a 'tiny brain moron'
There is just so much toxicity out there, misinformation and agendas spread like wildfire and worse still are lapped up. Education, not just in the US, but across the world could do with a massive boost, just one of the many possible beneficiaries of a 90% tax contribution.

Anti-vaxx propaganda has gone viral on Facebook. Pinterest has a cure
“We are doing our best to remove bad content, but we know that there is bad content that we haven't gotten to yet,” explained Ifeoma Ozoma, a public policy and social impact manager at Pinterest. “We don't want to surface that with search terms like ‘cancer cure' or ‘suicide'. We're hoping that we can move from breaking the site to surfacing only good content. Until then, this is preferable.”
Having previously run a forum and various projects, hosting only what you deem to be acceptable is hard. I really do get it, but here we have one social network choosing to deny information to it's users for their own protection and another where anything goes. Both in and out it seems.
The Guardian's headline includes 'Pinterest has a cure'... would be interested to know how this impacted engagement. If anything, the rise of factual content and demise of anti-vaxxers should be welcomed by all.
