Facebook can convert Portrait Mode photos in to 3D photos

Ok, this is really really cool. It looks impossible and depends on a few things like the complexity of the background and the accuracy of the depth map but it does work. While I found it a bit hit and miss, with my iPhone 8 Plus I was able to get some great results:

MAKERphone - an educational DIY mobile phone

MAKERphone parts
  1. MAKERphone circuit board
  2. MAKERphone casing
  3. 128*160 full color TFT LCD
  4. GSM module
  5. Main microcomputer module - a dual core processor with built-in Wi-Fi, BLE, and a charging circuit
  6. Sound module
  7. Amplifier module
  8. Stick-on antenna
  9. 9) A bag with other tiny electronic components and a 128MB SD card preloaded with games and apps
If I have a bit more time, I'd be all over this. You get all the parts to build a mobile phone and there will be plenty of resources to help you code games and apps. There's even a tools kit which gives you everything you need to be able to put it together and get it working, if you don't have them already. I suck at soldering, so I'd want more practice before embarking on a project like this. Really need to finish of that Konstructor kit I was given ages ago...

Strator self-balancing electrike bike

Ben Dahl:

Power comes from a rear wheel direct drive 3-phase brushless DC motor with a max power of 1,000W, which gives it a top speed of 25 mph and a range of 20 miles

I thought the scooter looked pretty cool anyway, but didn't realise how enormous it was:

Fall is in the air: Images of the season

I posted a photo of a tree with yellow leaves on Instagram yesterday complaining about the end of summer, but the colours autumn brings to the world are some of my favourites, as captured brilliantly by the photos in this article.
