IFTTT is back!

Week 471 was posted by Charanjit Chana on 2026-11-04.

I was a big fan of IFTTT back at the beginning of it's journey. I stopped using it once paid tiers came in as it was all casual use but last month I started looking again to help automate social media posts for Good Gear Club.

They'd played with the way it was priced so I went away to think about it and resigned myself to needing to pay for better functionality from IFTTT or maybe from an alternative service.

To my surprise, last week they sent an email saying IFTTT was free again, well you get 1,000 credits to use for no cost. Right now that's plenty for me, but it's not silly money to open up the possibilities of building more and more on the platform.

There is specifically a restriction between RSS triggers and creating pins on Pinterest but I found a way around this, although I might burn through my credits this month while I figure out if it's worthwhile or not.

My first Applet takes new RSS items and posts them to Threads and to Tumblr. That second action allows me to use Tumblr as a trigger for Pinterest so I can post there too!

I am really please to see that IFTTT is getting back to it's roots and enabling some creativity rather than paywalling it all. I'm seeing how these first couple of Applets go and what credit usage looks like, but I plan to dive in and do more with it in the coming months.
