Found via Toxel.com, the hole in the floor bookcases look like a fun optical illusion, something quirky to store your books on, but clicking through to the raw edges website, I'm not entirely sure if it is an illusion or if the bookcase is designed to sit in a literal hole in the floor...

How food stylists trick us into thinking food looks better than it really does

Photography might be art but it's full of deception! The video reminded me of a video I saw years ago from McDonalds Canada where they showed how they photograph their food with only the real ingredients found in the burgers themselves. It's all about how you position the ingredients.

New emojis are a huge boon for security

From first hand experience this week, this is most certainly true. Share a new emoji in Messages, WhatsApp or on any social network and if someone tells you they can't see it or they see a question mark (or other character), the response is usually you need to update your software.

John Collison's follow up suggestion to hold back emojis to help deal with major bugs is a funny but interesting one. Would it help roll updates out faster? For iOS maybe, but adoption is already very fast paced. Android is far more fragmented and updates are not guaranteed.
